Rare Glanville Fritillary spotted at West Wight Cottages HQ
The Glanville Fritillary is the iconic Isle of Wight butterfly. It is found on coastal grasslands and south-facing chalk downland only on the southern Isle of Wight, Channel Islands and a few mainland coastal regions. The main foodplant is Ribwort Plantain and the species remains vulnerable. Teresa has been looking out for this butterfly since we’ve been living on the Island so absolutely thrilled yesterday to see this beautiful creature resting on our conservatory window.
